THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!
What an awesome time we’ve had together, Saturday, June 19th, 2021, our first official Juneteenth Independence Day Celebration!
Thank you, Denise & Miss Alynette, for co-hosting our event.
This event is truly a labor of love for those of us on the committee and our membership. However, we could not have done it without a lot of support from our families, friends, and extended community.
Thank you to all the dignitaries who carved out time from their very busy schedules to participate in our celebration. Thank you to our sponsors: City of Oxnard, Oxnard Cultural Arts Commission, Central Coast Alliance United for a Sustainable Economy (CAUSE), for giving so generously to ensure we could make this possible. Also, thank you to County of Ventura, AMGEN, CA State University - Channel Islands, Clinicas del Real Camino, to the Oxnard College Foundation and League of Women Voters. Their support is appreciated. Weren’t our entertainers awesome! What a great variety of talent we have around us! Thank you to everyone who performed. How about those artists? We’re all so impressed by their talent! Be sure to support them when you see them, whenever you can. And, a very special thanks for our production team for making our virtual event possible.
Recognizing our past, our present and our future contributions to America, is so important, not only to African Americans but to our entire country. Together we can continue to shape a future that we can all be proud of!
Be sure to check our website, Juneteenthoxnard.org for details on our next big event. As previously announced, JCVC will present An American Journey featuring Forgotten Images Traveling Exhibit and Museum. This free, in person, 3-day event from Nov 11 – 13, 2021, will culminate with an exciting interactive panel discussion. We look forward to seeing you at CSU-Channel Islands.
Thanks again to our co-hosts, dignitaries, participants, and sponsors! We couldn’t have done it without you! Keep celebrating freedom, celebrate and honor those that have suffered and died for justice and equality for all. Wherever you are, stay safe and God bless!!!!
Our Annual Juneteenth Celebration event will be held on Saturday, June 18th , 2022, at the downtown Plaza Park, Oxnard, CA from 10a to 5p
Our highly anticipated 31st Annual Juneteenth Celebration , will be streaming live on Facebook.
This event celebrates the 1865 historical Proclamation of Freedom from slavery in Texas.
For 30 years, several primarily African American community organizations have served thousands of people in Ventura County in support of young people, in support of social justice in the underserved communities of color with ongoing services that uplift our community and bring cultural awareness. It is with open
hearts that we welcome all for a celebration of Juneteenth, this year. We always try to excel each year with our sharing Black history and culture, our entertainment, the latest in Health and Wellness information and to shine a light on different local artists included in our Harmony Art Walk, to name a few highlights. We are inviting you to join us as a sponsor and/or participant in this wonderful fun filled family event.
In person meetings will resume again and due to social distancing practices, they are held via Zoom. If you are interested in participating and being a part of our historical Freedom Day annual event, let us know! Please, contact us via our website, email your name, your email address and provide us your contact telephone number! We look forward to hearing from you!
Please, stay aware of the latest updates from our World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and from Ventura and Los Angeles Counties Healthcare personnel. Stay safe, avoid crowded areas much as possible, wear your masks when out in public for your safety as well as for others. Get your vaccinations wherever and whenever, possible.
